EDUC E328 Teaching Portfolio

October Field Journal

Weeks 5-8. You are teaching now. Entries should start naming decisions you made, not only what the room looked like.

Before you write anything about a child, read this.

You are working in a real school with real children. This portfolio may become public.

  • Never use a child's real name. Use "Student A," "Student B," with the grade only.

  • Never post a photograph in which a child's face is visible.

  • Never post student work showing a name, ID number, or identifying handwriting.

  • Do not name the classroom teacher without their permission.

  • Do not describe a specific child's disability, diagnosis, IEP or 504 status, family situation, or disciplinary history.

  • Write about what you observed and what you learned, not about who the child is.

  • Before sharing this portfolio, open the published version in a private window and reread every entry as a stranger would.

If you are unsure whether something belongs here, ask Dr. Garvin before you post it, not after.
